Where to Get a Noblestalk Mushroom in Baldur's Gate 3
What to Do With the Noblestalk Mushroom in Baldur's Gate 3
Baldur's Gate 3 has so many side quests and NPCs that some players might get a little overwhelmed with everything that can be done. However, there is an item that players won't want to miss, as it can earn them another ally in Act 3 or can give them some additional points with the romanceable character named Shadowheart.
In Act 2, there is an item called a Noblestalk mushroom that can be found. Unfortunately for players, there is only one mushroom in the whole game, and there are three people that can use it.
Updated October 4th, 2023: As players make their way to the Myconid Colony in Baldur's Gate 3, they may find themselves tasked with finding a Noblestalk Mushroom. This rare item can be pretty difficult to find if players aren't sure exactly where to look but it's important for completing a particular quest. Players who are looking for the Noblestalk Mushroom in Baldur's Gate 3 will find it in a very hazardous area. To better help players locate (and escape with) the Noblestalk Mushroom in BG3, the following guide now includes a video.

Where to Get a Noblestalk Mushroom in Baldur's Gate 3
As stated above, there is only one Noblestalk mushroom in the entire game. It can be a challenge to pick up, though, because it is surrounded by other, much more dangerous mushrooms. In the quest called Mushroom Picker, a dwarf named Derryth asks players if they have seen her husband, Baelen. He's been out looking for Noblestalk mushrooms, and he hasn't come back. She is located in the Mychonid colony in Baldur's Gate 3's Underdark.
In order to get the Noblestalk, find Baelen near the Sussur Tree at X: -21, Y: -62; he is located in a grove of bibberbang mushrooms that are set to explode if he makes a single step. There are several ways to save him, but it is not necessary to save him in order to get the Noblestalk.
- Throw Baelen a scroll that will get him out of the area, like a Scroll of Misty Step.
- Use Mage Hand to pick up Baelen's pack and drag it to him. He has a scroll inside that will help him.
- Use Misty Step or teleportation spell to get over to Baelen's pack, then throw it to him.
Whether saving Baelen or not, there will be a Noblestalk mixed in with the bibberbangs, so players want to avoid setting off the bibberbang until they can get a hold of the priceless mushroom. To pick up the Noblestalk from the upper right-hand corner of the bibberbang field:
- Use the BG3 utility spell called Mage Hand to drag it over closer and pick it up.
- Put out the lit torch with a thrown water bottle or Create Water spell, then give a character a poison resistance potion and walk over to it.
- Teleport over to the mushroom and pick it up before the explosions can destroy it.
What to Do With the Noblestalk Mushroom in Baldur's Gate 3
Once the Noblestalk is in hand, there are several things players can choose to do with it. The first is to save it; it's a useful item that heals a character and removes any negative effect. But there are four story-related things that Baldur's Gate 3 players can do with it as well.
- Give the mushroom to Shadowheart. This will begin to help her get her memory back; she will remember the Tiefling woman that the party meets in the House of Grief in Act 3.
- Give the mushroom to Baelen. This will cure him of his stupidity and restore him to his old, abusive self, much to the horror of his wife.
- Give the mushroom to Derryth. She is very thankful, and while she doesn't give the player any reward, she will be a good friend to meet back up with in the city of Baldur's Gate.
- Give the mushroom to a Dark Urge character. This will begin to restore memories that have been lost.
Either way, this mushroom can alter the story in little ways, so players should pick the one they are most interested in seeing.
